Of course, you could take these ideas and hit the ground running.  We have tried a lot of variations of these post ideas and are going to fully dive into the sure-fire ways to drive engagement with these post ideas…..

Weekly Post Idea #1 – Ask Your Fans

ask your fans - first social media weekly post idea

This may seem like cheating, but it’s not. The customer is always right, yes? So put a call-out on your feed, asking what they want to see.

Social media is all about bragging rights, so let the social media fans/followers know that if you end up using their ideas. You’ll credit them, and you might even give them a cameo, whether it’s a tag to their account or a guest role in the post itself.

This works well for video or audio content, and it’s cheaper than promising them freebies.

Weekly Post Idea #2 – Start A Series

start a series social media weekly post ideas number 2

Today we binge most of our shows.  In the past (and on some cable channels), the series involved a week-long wait with lots of teasers between.

It built up anticipation which generated traffic. Pick an ongoing topic related to your brand and drop ‘an episode’ once a week or once a month. It doesn’t have to be a video – a well-crafted article or infographic works as well.

Don’t forget to interlink the series for enhanced searchability. This helps users find related episodes as they follow along, and is useful for SEO as well.

Weekly Post Idea #3 – Include Regular Contests

It’s one of the most effective social media content ideas.  With all the free contest templates available, you can set them up in seconds.

Have scheduled competitions on a given day of the week or month. The predictability guarantees return visits. Fans know there’ll be goodies on that day. You can sneak in surprise giveaways too.

Here’s a great video on how to do effective giveaways on social media:

Weekly Post Idea #4 – Do Some Cross-Branding

It’s like a musical mash-up or a TV cross-over. It exposes your partnering brand’s fans to you and vice versa.

Be sure to work with brands that are relevant to yours, and can add value to both sets of consumers. Take over each other’s feeds for a day.

Approach it with solid strategy and mapped out plan. Have fun with it.

Make sure you put someone experienced in charge *cough*cough*not*the*intern*cough* to make sure you don’t burn down both your houses.

On the topic of branding, here’s a great video with tips on building a powerful personal brand:

Weekly Post Idea #5 – Give Your Fans A Voice

give your fans a voice social media weekly post ideas number 5

Many social media feeds today add the caveat “Retweets are not endorsements.” They kind of are though, so pick your shares.

It does boost customer loyalty because it makes them feel heard. So yes, re-share and tag consumer content, but scrutinize before you post. Review the rest of their feed, not the post you want to share.

You need to be sure how those crowd-sourced social media content ideas … and their attendant personas … will impact your brand.

Weekly Post Idea #6 – Do A Mini-Shoot

Video content has better results on social media, but you don’t always want the full hassle of models, lights, and mics. Plus, many newer smartphone cameras can do a killer job, so it’s okay to use them for micro-uploads.

Think gif or TikTok rather than mobile film-making. It doesn’t even have to be a video – it could be a meme built off a static image. Pick your content carefully though.

Here’s a great video that shows how to make TikTok videos from images:

A grainy 6-second impromptu of baby raccoons is cute. A wobbly video selfie with no distinct purpose is annoying. Wield your weapon wisely.

Weekly Post Idea #7 – Milk Existing Materials

recycle content social media weekly post ideas number 7

You know that clip we mentioned up there? You can repurpose it into ten different posts on different social media platforms, from those six seconds of footage.

You could create a contest to ‘spot the hidden easter egg’ in the video’s background. You could invite followers to submit similar uploads.

You could ask them to make ‘trailers’ by capturing stills.  You can add captions and award the best one. You could tease the video on other feeds.

Recycle, but do it with class and care, keeping it relevant and entertaining. It’s the same raw material.

Keep in mind they have to feel like fresh social media content ideas each time, so revamp, don’t just re-post.

Weekly Post Idea #8 – Teach Them A Lesson …

… but be sure it’s one they want to learn. How-to’s are search-engine gold, so they’ll bring you tons of new followers. And they’ll benefit your existing fan base too!

It could be a tutorial linked to your brand. It could also be something more experimental.  A (relatively safe) risk e.g. a recipe or rollercoaster ride are two examples.

Learning something by doing it on screen is a big draw for Facebook live, IG stories, or something similar.

You could – for example – taste new food, like (cooked) eels or escargot. Avoid health risks or dangerous dares though.

Here’s a great example of a how to post from Social Media Examiner on Instagram:

Weekly Post Idea #9 – Or Get Them To Teach You …

have them teach you social media weekly post ideas number 9

Good social media content ideas push engagement, not just bounce rates. You want the types of social media followers/friends that will keep coming back.

Regulars are more likely to convert into customers. Create ongoing conversations and build relationships, getting to know your following.

Invite them to teach you something, then film it as expert advice. It could be ‘skateboard tricks’ or ‘life hacks’.  It could even be a ‘for dummies’ intro to their favorite videogame (especially as a non-gamer).

Make sure you’re up to it before you give the green light. And be ready to laugh at yourself, keeping things humorous and safe.

Weekly Post Idea #10 – Do Some Trend-Jacking …

… but do it with class. The mistake many brands make is to pick five to ten popular hashtags and copy-paste them at the end of your post. That’s tasteless, tacky, and puts off customers.

It also invites trolls (from the other tags) onto your feed, and that’s not worth the grief. Pick a social media trend that’s relevant to your brand, and join it in an authentic way.

Don’t pander. Instead, make sure it’s a good fit, both in terms of selection and execution.

Not sure how to find trends on social media? Here’s a great video that covers this for you:

Weekly Post Idea #11 – Host An AMA

Take advantage of your audience’s pressing interest with an “ask me anything” live stream session.

Pro pointer: attempt focusing the AMA on a particular subject, with required concerns about your most current collection, or concerns about entrepreneurship.

Some individuals like to do an Instagram, TikTok or Facebook live stream, addressing concerns right from the remarks in the minute. Others like to do a series of Instagram Stories utilizing the Question sticker labels.

Here’s an example on Instagram that had decent engagement:

Weekly Post Idea #12 – Share Some Useful Material

If a fantastic short article, pin, Tweet, or Youtube video currently exists out there on social media that your audience would enjoy, why not share it?

Curated material can make your brand name appear like it has its finger on the pulse and like you’re in fact there to develop and engage the neighborhood, not simply proclaim your own horn.

When you are sharing content it’s important to do it legally. Here’s a great video that dives into this:

Weekly Post Idea #13 – Posts Showing Your Company’s Culture

What much better method to display your company than by sharing a culture post?

A culture post is an image or short article that highlights what your company is everything about. It could be a behind-the-scenes picture of your workers doing something eccentric or a short article about how your service does something with a specific method.

Weekly Post Idea #14 – Concern Posts

Not whatever you share on social media needs to be an article or short article. Get your audience engaging and talking with one another by asking a burning concern. You could ask, “What sort of material should I blog about next?”

It’s the very best method to understand what your audience actually wishes to check out.

Asking an enjoyable concern or developing a Twitter survey is a great way to get your audience’s insights.

Here’s a great video that will help you fine-tune your ability to ask engaging questions:

Weekly Post Idea #15 – Share Infographics

Infographics are a great method to reveal a detailed guide, specifically on Pinterest (hi, DIY). Infographics enable you to share a lot of details by making use of visuals. They make dull data look appealing!

Whether it be your own or a curated infographic, your audience will be drawn to the appearance, and make sure to keep reading.
